i want to get a rodent but im not sure what type. these are the ones i was considering:
mice,(if i get mice, what kind should i get?)
hedgehog,
rat,
kangaroo mice(or kangaroo rat)
chinchilla.
i want a rodent that is easy to tame, nice, fun to play with.
can anyone give me details about the ones i listed?
and can i get some more rodent suggestions? What kind of rodent should i get?
Well, honestly I dont consider either of those!!
Chinchillas are way to exspensive!!
Mice/Rats kinda get dirty easily!!
I would suggest a Guinea Pig!!
They are cute and social animals that like to live in groups!!
But if you dont think you are ready for two guinea pigs then I would suggest that you get one and play with it all the time and let it get its floor time!
They dont make their own Vitamin C like we can so you have to give them Oranges, Parsley, etc things like that!!
They also dont smell at all!!
They need fresh veggies every day!
Are better living in cages with no ceiling on it because they cant climb, jump, anything like that!!
But I would suggets adopting a guinea pig not buying one~~
I bought a guinea pig from Petsmart and it ended up having mites, worms, and ringworm!! That's horrible!!
Also adopting is better!!What kind of rodent should i get?
I agree with rats.males grow bigger and are smellier also.i would recommend 2 females. you can have hours of fun with rats.
If you want a hamster, they not as lively n interactive as rats. Syrian hamsters can only be kept singular. dwarf n Russian hamsters are littler and can be kept in pairs but can be very bitty, nippy animals
I personally would choose a guinea pig (hence, my name). They are playful, you can take them outside to play with, you can teach them trix, and if they like you they will squeak when you enter the room. I know it's not in the list but I hope it helped!
i'd get a pair of rats! they are very loving, smart, and playful. males tend to be a bit lazy and calmer while females have a harder time sitting still. both are very loving though and rarely bite. i'd suggest a pair as they are extremely social and need a same sex buddy.
Rats are very sweet, but alot of times they get sick and/or get tumors. I think rats are the best pets out of the ones you listed. Remember to get a large cage which could add up to around $200-$300 because they grow alot.
Get any type of dwarf hamster. Their easy to tame, their nice if you play with them, fun to play with ,and cute.
You should get a gerbil or degu
one that bites you often
hedge hog!!! there so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
two words: get. rats!
they are the only small animal that actualy like people as friends. they can learn tricks easily. i taught my rat, nutmeg, to come when called, beg, jump, chase her tail, and follow me around the room! they love to play games and are smarter and more playful than puppys! they clean themselves, so ignore anyone who says they are gross and mean.
but ther are things to remember:
unles you can be with your rat 24/7 all the time (as in never sleep, work, eat, ect.) get two. but remember, two males somtimes fight, and geting a cage mate dosent mean you dont have to play with them
rats are clean animals and will wash themselves. stlill it is best to clean thier cage once a week to prevent respratory infections. rats can be litter trained so then you dont need to clean quite as often.
rats dont bite, its not in ther nature. but after a wile, if they realy love you, they will groom you! dont be nervouse because they will lightly nibble on your skin. if they do it too hard sqeek and pull away, this is how a rat would react, and next time they will do it more gently. this is realy an honor, it means they exept you as a rat!!!!
