How come in the rodent section?

esp with hamsters, people arent willing to take their pet to the vet

theyre are way too many people who do not deserve a pet because they wont take care of it

you dont see it in the dog section as much tho why is this? How come in the rodent section?
i do not know but i think they perceive them as disposable pets and it blanks me off.How come in the rodent section?
Im one of these who do take my small pets to the vet,and yeah i do agree many people feel less inclined to do it because they were a cheap pet to purchase, however its not acceptable and its inhumane to make any animal, small or large suffer.People with dogs spent a load of money so they're wanting to maintain the dogs quality of life more, especially since the dog wil be the animal that gets most attention in the house and also the dogs injuries are far more noticable. I spent 拢500 or more on my rabbit before it died,in operations and everything else and I would do it again anyday. When people purchase a small animal, people need to know its a big commitment but there isnt much information telling people about this.
Cheaper pets make people less inclined to spend money on them- I've heard people saying things like ';I'm not going to spend 50 euro on vet fees for a 5 euro hamster!'; and suchlike. People who have cheap pets and don't bond with them very well often think of the pet in terms of money like this when it comes to vets.

Dogs are more expensive and they're more traditionally regarded as a close pet or family member- even though people can love their rodents very much and some people don't care about their dogs, no-one says 'a rat is a man's best friend'. That part of it is just due to perception- they're a small pet that many people don't bother to bond with or to train, so they are sometimes seen as more disposable.

Then there are wild rats so people think rats don't really need vet care.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I do take my pet rats to the vet when needed - and pay the rather expensive vet bills.

The people who don't take the animals to the vet probably have reasons something like this:

- They don't consider their pet rodents to be worth the money, given that if it dies, they can buy a new one.

- Their parents don't want to spend money on a pet they got probably at least in part because they thought it would be cheap.

- They didn't realize that small animals get sick and cost a lot at the vet. It's really quite incredible how ignorant some people are.

What bothers me is when these people ask for veterinary advice and then get defensive when people tell them to take the animal to the vet. Idiots. If they can afford a computer and internet, they can damn well afford a vet if they make it a priority.
anyone who really knows the answer to that doesnt really want to say it. you know, as well as we all do, that creating a bond with something you have to keep in a cage for fear of it starting an infestation in your home, as well as its being a very inexpensive ';pet'; i call them food, is nearly impossible. they all have the same mentality and no REAL personality. some are nicer than others, some eat food out of your hand. none of them are worth spending 75 bucks just to see the vet when you can get another item of food for $4.99 at the local pet store.

Should the Hamster be Declared Our National Rodent?

Will you help me launch a campaign to declare the hamster our national rodent?Should the Hamster be Declared Our National Rodent?
I'll bring my cat over to eat your hamster, if he bothers you that much...Should the Hamster be Declared Our National Rodent?
GO HAMSTERS!!! HAMSTERS SHOULD BE OUR NATIONAL RODENT!!!!! GO HAMSTERS!!!
No. It needs to be the rat, so it will stand for our system of potlitics.
I think the guinea pig should be the national rodent, because a lot of people like guinea pigs more than hamsters.
I vote Rat for many reasons! Some political and some actually pertaining to the characteristics of the rat! I have never been bitten by a rat, and I have never held a hampster who hasnt tried to take a bite out of me!
No, I do not know what our national rodent should be. But it should not be a simple animal that people keep as pets. Our national rodent should be a wild animal, like a beaver.
no.......it should be the rat
I think that a rabbit would be a better choice.
I thought that title was reserved for a rat with intials GWB.
Would this be in substitution for our existing National Rodent (and, if so, what rodent currently serves as our NR), or would it instead anoint the hamster with an honor that no other rodent has heretofore enjoyed? Pretty exciting, if you ask me!
YES! ham-hams rock!!!! why did you think they made hamtaro? everyone luvs hamsters! they are sooo cute! rats are ugly, mice are cute, but hams beat them all!!!!!!!!!!! I know this is wierd but baby possums are cute too.......

Do rats get along with any other rodent besides other rats?

No, different rodents don't usually do well with rats. I have heard of people having their guinea pigs play with their rats, but that was really taking a risk. Rats will most likely get in fights with hamsters, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, chins, and ferrets (though ferrets aren't rodents). And NEVER keep them in the same cage with a different species of rodent. They do best with other RAT friends.Do rats get along with any other rodent besides other rats?
No not at all! Rats are natural predators, and I have read that if you were to put another animal in with a rat there is a possibility that the rats instincts would kick in and it could kill it! I say don't risk it! I read this lady had a loose pet bird and the rats killed it and began to eat it, I don't know how rare this is!Do rats get along with any other rodent besides other rats?
No, it's not a good idea to mix rodent specices together.
Well I think you should keep your rat either with other rats or on its own...

What would you call a person who drowned an animal of any kind, rodent included?

Well, of the vertebrates, without having any other details, I would say that person was horribly, horribly, horribly cruel.

I'm not as fond of fire ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, and flies... so where drowning those are concerned... I say, go for it.What would you call a person who drowned an animal of any kind, rodent included?
I would call them troubled and immature and possibly criminal. What would you call a person who drowned an animal of any kind, rodent included?
Psychopath
I'd say they were sick in the head
someone with priorities.

but I limit this to cats and rodents....dogs and other mammals are not included in my answer. I see NOTHING wrong with drowning a bag of rats.
I would call them guilty of criminal animal abuse, and I would report them to the police and to the humane society.

Many people who abuse, torture and kill people, especially children, started out abusing, torturing and killing helpless animals.
well i would say they arent animal luvers and i wouldnt trust them with a pet if u need to have someone watch ur pet dont let that person doo it 4 u cuz who knowes what will happen
Hmm..subspecies come to mind.......among others
daddy
psycho...why?

Yeah, if you like it. Your pet, your name.Is To-To (Swahili for baby) A Good Name For Any Pet Rodent?
Any name is okay for a pet but i recommend get an easy name like Tia, Jack, Josh (To-To is ok) but Aoyuma-kun is too long and ur rodent might not be able to learn his/her name fast. Probably never.
