Ok I am going to get a rodent like next year , so I still have a lot of time but which rodent is the funnest in your opinion... A hamsters,mouse,rat,or guinea pig. Rats are awesome. Not only can they run on wheels and go in very large ';hamster balls'; they are very intelligent and affectionate.
I have had many many rats over the years and greatly enjoyed every one of them. I had one that loved to climb on her cage upside down. I had another that would empty all the things he didn't want in his cage daily in his food dish because he knew I would take it out and change it every day. I had one (my favorite) that would chase the cat when she came out in her ball. Best of all each and every one of them loved to sit on my shoulders, cuddle and play.. they are awesome pets. I can't speak highly enough of them.What rodent is the funnest? Your opinion...?

I had a guinea pig for six and a half years. That's one of the advantages of guinea pigs, a relatively long life expectancy. They shouldn't be put in exercise balls. They aren't built for it and can sustain serious back injuries. But they like running around on the floor in a safe room (no electrical cords or other hazards).
Mice are intelligent, inquisitive, social little creatures. I've had them too. Some run in exercise balls, some never figure it out. I used the hamster sized ball, to leave room for the tail.
Rats are very sociable and form strong emotional bonds with cage-mates and human caretakers. They are bigger than mice and therefore more cuddly. You would think a bigger animal would smell worse, but rats actually smell less musky than mice. Of course keep the cage clean. A dirty cage stinks whoever is living in it. I bought a jumbo exercise balls for my rats, and they're afraid of it. I keep trying, but so far they won't go in willingly, and if placed inside, they don't go anywhere. They don't have a blast zooming all over the house like my hamster.
I think rats and mice are slightly more fun than hamsters, and on about the same level as guinea pigs. But I love them all.
Capybaras, they are the world's largest rodents!

I have had many hamsters, and have found them a rewarding pet, but im now getting a rat, because they are very smart, and playful, so id say a rat is the best rodent to have because they are very clean, smary, playful, can learn their names and do tricks. And since you like the hamster ball so much, you would prolly love taking a rat on a walk outside on a rat leash.

All other animals you mentioned can do but the mouse might not be able to use a ball because of it's size. Have you considered a Chinchilla or a hedgehog?
my favorite rodent pet is gerbils. i have 2 and in my opinion they are better than hamsters. they can go in a ball and have a wheel too.

A rat. they are very smart and usually live longer. Dumbos are my favorite. They are very comical. They can run on wheels and in large rodent balls.

i know this sounds gross but rats are the most affectionate rodents. i had a pet rat named mickey rat that used to sit on my shoulder all day (once in a while he would pee on me) which was gross but any rodent would do that if left out too long. they are very smart also. the only bad thing is they have a little odor to them no matter how clean you keep things. a miniature bunny is not much bigger than a rat and very affectionate as well

GUINEA PIGS!!!!!!!!! by far... I've never had a rat... but I've had mice and a rabbit... and out of all of them guinea pigs will love you the best and the longest. Their also easily trained, and do cute things like squeek when you open the frige door to get a carrot. = )

make sure you read about them first because you don't want to do something wrong. they live for about 5 years if taken care of really well. and make sure you never give them cedar bedding, they'll die. they're the cleanest rodents because they're always cleaning themselves. they're kind of like little dogs. also, if you get one make sure you let it be in it's cage for a day or two so as not to frighten it away from you forever.
also, they're only about $10 or 15$, maybe cheaper. i highly reccomend getting one! :D
get a baby chipmunk i had oone their really cuddley and their free if you take it from out side ! but hamsters ((depending on which one you get )) are cuddle so when you go out to by one ask if it holdable and try to hold it

Over the course of the past 30 years, we have had rodents galore! Some may strongly disagree, but the only ones that really stink up a room are hamsters! Don't know why, maybe their pee is stronger or something.
If you want a pet, try one of the feeder type mice at the pet shop. You'll need a tight screen top for the cage, as they escape very easily. The nice thing is that they don't bite, don't stink, and can be trained quite easily! The down side is that they also don't live very long, as compared to say, a rat.
Gerbils are ok, but keep in mind that they are nocturnal. So get used to thinking how cute they are while they sleep, and remove their wheel before you go to bed.
For the health of your rodent, please remember:
keep the cage clean
keep the water and food fresh and plentiful
give them limited but regular fresh veggies!

i used to have an albino dwarf hamster, and the only thing he smelled like was the cedar shavings i put at the bottom of his cage. as long as you keep it clean and replace the shavings often enough, it shouldn't smell.
you could get an African Soft Fured Rat. they are sweet, grow to the size of a gerbil, dont stink ( but no rodents stink if they are healthy and they have clean cages ) and they are vary loving. I own two females and i love them to death. Their names are Hadley and Amy. and they are the cutest, funniest, lovinest, non smelliest rodents i have ever had!
males stink females dont,its a bit like real humans (if you know what i mean) lol

They will last quite a long time. you could use a zip lock bag, or alternativly you could laminate your findings onto a piece of paper. they will only start to bio-degrade in the right type of envoronment, eg, outside in the damp.

I live in upstate NY. Do sent based rabbit and deer repellents work for both flower and vegetable gardens? When can I put them down? How long do they last and are they toxic to humans?

I bought the kid of scent repellents that came in bags. You affix the bags to a stick and place around the garden. I can't guarantee that they work but I had no damage of my plants and I live right in the woods. They are not toxic to humans. yeah cats really catch rats and mice. Somewhere last week my dad and i went camping with our cat. I had a little walk around with my cat. The next minute he runs of and comes back with two rats in it's mouth!
Mine have never caught a rat but we have had lots of mice,voles and birds.
I know of a stable cat who regularly brings in rabbits and squirrels as well as rats, mice and only occasional birds - she is a serious hunter.
If you actually want a cat to catch mice you need a female - they're like lions in that, the males will do it for fun now and then, the females see it as their job.
In the winter, my cat keeps my house free of mice. She only leaves a small piece of the mouse to let us know she got one. We have found tails, ears, tuft of fur, kidney, and a foot. She eats the rest. GOOD KITTY! :-)

Cats do catch rodents and birds and other prey animals. Most of the time when they play with a feather or a ball, a piece of string, they're actually (unconciously?) practicing for real prey. Their bodies still have memories of being wild and hunting for their own food and all.

I don't know if they have mice or not though. They really don't catch them to eat but more to play. They just fling them in the air and catch them and do that over and over until they die. I think the media are sometimes acting irresponsibly to any chance of sensationalism to sell their papers.This guy was a big black bully ,probably off his head with crack.The creature who caused it all looked the typical chav scumbag shoplifter,an yes if this man had been white the papers would have made an issue out of it as racially motivatedIf this rodent was White and he killed a black or Muzlim?
If a white person kills a black or Asian person, it's usually labelled a racist crime whether it is or not. When it happens the other way round, the powers that be go out of their way to reject any claim that it may have been racially motivated.
I suspect the answer is no. I think the chavvy scumbag would have attacked regardless of the race of the person pushing in.
Lets hope the girlfriend gets a couple of years as well as the git who killed the poor sod.
