What is the best pet rodent to have besides a rat.?

Preferably a Syrian hamster!


Syrian hamsters are really nice, and love to cuddle. They can be long haired, short haired, shiny, soft, etc. Syrian hamsters are awesome!

the best rodent pet you can have is a pair (or even more for more happiness) of the same sex rats.


Lets just say that the smartest, cleanest, friendliest, cutest, with the longest tail, most energetic pets are the rats.


they are smarted then dogs and cleaner then cats.

We have a syrian hamster too, black one, macho guy who make acrobatic moves in the cage.


I guess it is about preference.


I would never exchange a rat to any guinea pig or what.

I would recommend a hamster. Hamsters are very easy to take care of and are fun to play with. They do not need to be kept in groups, although dwarf hamsters can be. They are cute, cuddly, and inexpensive :)
i would have to say mouse. they are cute and cuddly but they don't smell as bad and they are smarter than rats. get females though. they are better.

they behave just like rats (in the cuddling/loving department), are a decent size and really can't escape from cages like hamsters/gerbils/mice do.
They aren't really rodents, but ferrets are cool. I don't see anything wrong with rats though, in fact, they are really good pets.
right now, im holding my pet hampster but he's a baby dwarf hampster! baby dwarf hampsters are a very good first pet!
Hamster- they're easy to care for and good to handle.
