Amazing, my son had hamsters and they just kept on living. We had one for 21/2 years before he finally kicked the bucket and everyday he used cedar bedding. I guess he finally got cancer or something toxic! He was a cute pet but i heard they don't live to long anyway! When we got him they told us a few years, if we were lucky.
Yes, I have heard this, but for many years I used cedar shavings with no noticeable ill effects. The cages were well ventilated, though, and I gave them tissues which they built nests with. There is quite a variety of litters nowadays.
I would reconmend pine bedding cause its soft and fuffy and also get rid of alot of oders ur pet might have. Ive had hamster and i used the white pine bedding that u can find at petsmart for about 5 to 10 dollars but its really great.
